Throwing Zone Athletics is a sporting goods/ manufacturing company dealing with all throwing activities related to sports. It was founded by Tom Petranoff, two-time javelin world record holder and four time Olympic team member. The keynote product, the Turbo Jav, was his invention, molded in South Africa in the late 1980's. Over the past 17 years Tom Petranoff as developed this single item into three unique throwing implements. Within TZA's corporate structure there are three main areas in which we do business: basic sales, World's Longest Throw (WLT), and special interest organizations.
Basic sales are our wholesale and retail market with other sports companies around the world. Some of the countries we do business with include, but aren't limited to: Australia, Finland, Italy, Japan, The United Kingdom, and the United States. Our retail sales are based off of our website www.turbojav.com.
Our special interest organizations include: Special Olympics, Junior Olympics, schools, and parks and recreation programs. The Special Olympics have made the Turbo Jav an official event worldwide in 2011. Currently we have 25 states. In 2008, the Turbo Jav event will be introduced as a national event and a world event in 2009. Special Olympics Turbo Jav is one of the fast growing events in all of Special Olympics. From 2000-2007 over 200,000 Special Olympians competed in the Turbo Jav event. A similar approach ahs been used for the Junior Olympics; it is currently the second most popular event and will grow into the most popular.
Our company is highly dedicated to helping all kinds of children and athletes find their "groove". All grade levels in schools are throwing our Turbo Jav in 8 states. Turbo Jav offers schools a safer way to compete in the javelin event and gets athletes ready for college competition and scholarship chances. The final organization is citywide Parks and Recreation programs. City's such as New York, Boston, and Miami have incorporated the Turbo Jav into their program.
